This is an original, antique Insect trap from back around the turn of the century most likely give or take 20 to 25 years before or after. This is quite a neat old piece from past times that is one of many one comes across and if you take the time to just stop and think about what your looking at and what has taken its place now it can really amaze you and make for interesting conversation and such. Sooner or later if you do this enough I am sure you will come across some old antique tool or gadget and when you start thinking of it maybe getting little confused or stumped because all of a sudden you will say and know that the old antique item got in hands still a much simpler, effective, cheaper, longer lasting gadget than the one got at home. Trust me if you really get to where think of things in that way and studying Alot of these old collectible/antique gadgets and tools I guarantee you it will happen to you at least once and if you make a big habit of studying them I would say many, many more times. ANYHOW BACK TO MY TRAP it was designed to catch most any bug least ones that could fit into mouth of trap. They did work I remember grandparents talking of them and even having one around still to show me. This one is little advanced over many of the ones you see in the fact it has three Legs on its bottom which made it stand much better in place when being used at the table or such. Then if decided to to go outside for some evening air or whatever just take some chicken or baling wire, something similar and wrap tightly around its neck the wide lip of the mouth would help to hold it in place then tie other end wherever you needed in a bush, hood of old truck, off the deck, stud in barn or outhouse etc. This trap is around 5 Inches tall and about 3 1/2" Inches in diameter. It has three Legs on it or should say stubs considering they only about 1/4" inch long. It is a green colored glass. This old piece is ready for your collection, use in farm decor theme or put it back to work if wish.
